How a Room-Temperature Retention Test Works
Step 1 - Prepare
Cut the adhesive tape into one-inch-wide (25.4 mm) strips of the required length.
Step 2 - Bond
Clean the SUS#304 test plate, bond the specimen over the required area, and press it with the 2000 g ± 50 g roller at 300 mm/min for three return passes. Apply only the mass of the roller, without additional force.
Step 3 - Load
Hang the test plate vertically on the tester and attach the standard weight (1000 g ± 10 g, including the loading plate) to apply a constant shear load.
Step 4 - Record
When the tape separates from the plate, the station timer automatically retains the elapsed time. Five specimens are tested and recorded independently at the same time.
